In Brightspace, your instructor has two versions of Turnitin available, which impacts how you see your Turnitin assignments. In most cases, you can access them in the assignments section of your course, but in some cases, they will only be available in the content section of your course. Instructions for locating and submitting your Turnitin assignment in both instances are provided below.

Helpful Tips for Students:

  • System Requirements: Ensure your computer meet’s the Turnitin system requirements.
  • Firefox: If you experience a loading issues, make sure you are using the most current version of Firefox. We have seen some issues arise when users utilize the Chrome browser
  • Javascript: Enable JavaScript and third-party cookies in your browser’s privacy settings. You may also want to add the sites api.turnitin.com and api.turnitinuk.com to your allowed sites.

Instructions for Turnitin

View and submit via Assignments section

1. In your course Nav Bar, click Activities, then Assignments. On the Assignments page, click on the assignment.

2. Students can click the ‘upload’ button to select a file to upload to Turnitin. The selected file will show up under the upload button, and the student can click the blue ‘Submit’ button at the bottom of the screen.

3. A successful confirmation will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

View and submit via Content section

If you cannot find your Turnitin assignment under Activities->Assignments, these steps may apply. Please reach out to your instructor if you do not see your assignment in your course.

1. From your course Nav Bar, click ‘Content’, navigate to the module with the Turnitin assignment, and click on it.

2. Review the Turnitin End-User License Agreement and select ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline.’

3. Review the assignment Instructions and either drag your file into the dotted area or click the ‘Browse Files’ add your file to the assignment. You may need to scroll down a little to view the whole screen.

4. Once your file has been selected, fill in the submission title (if needed) and click ‘Upload and Review’.

5. Take a moment to review your submission and click ‘Submit’.

6. You will receive a “success” message and a digital receipt if you have successfully submitted your Turnitin submission.

7. To download and view the digital receipt or to view your submission click on the 3 dots to the right of your submission. If you do not have a digital receipt, you did not submit any files to Turnitin.
