To access another instructor’s Brightspace course contents, please contact that course’s instructor and request that they manually enroll you as an instructor in that Brightspace course. Note that manually added instructors will not receive end-of-semester course evaluations.

To enroll you as an instructor, the other instructor will need to:

  1. In your course navigation bar, select Course Tools .
  2. Click on Classlist.
  3. Select the dropdown Add Participants and click Add existing users.
  4. Enter the instructor’s First Name, Last Name or Username (do not leave any spaces) .
    • Tip: Use the campus directory to search for an instructor.
  5. In the Role drop-down list, choose Instructor and Select the Section that you would like them to be enrolled in.
  6. Leave Include Users already enrolled in org unit set to Yes.
  7. Click Enrolled Selected Users .

Repeat steps 3 through 7 for each additional instructor you wish to add.

If you are unable to reach the original course’s instructor, another way to gain access is to request that that instructor’s department course scheduling coordinator officially enroll you as an instructor, assistant lecturer, or teaching assistant for the course in USC’s Student Information Systems (SIS).  The department course scheduling coordinator is usually found in the department’s main office.  Scheduling coordinators can enroll additional instructors, assistant lecturers, or teaching assistants into a Brightspace course for up to four years after the course ends.

Finally, if you are unable to reach either the instructor or the department course scheduling coordinator, please ask that that instructor’s department chair send an email to Brightspace@usc.edu giving you permission to access that course’s Brightspace site.

Once you are enrolled as an instructor, you can copy the course’s content into your own course(s):
