The Course Overview widget provides instructors data on how students are interacting with the course. This includes how many students have visited the course within the last week, how often students are visiting the course, and how students are spending their time in the course. This widget is auto-loaded to default course homepages. If this widget does not appear on the course homepage you may have a customized course homepage and can use the Add Widgets to a Course Homepage guide to add it.
At a Glance
The Course Overview widget displays high-level aggregate information about the course and links to course-specific Brightspace Insights reports.
- Weekly course visit statistics: This section contains a graph that shows course visits for the current week.
- Daily course visit statistics: This section tracks how many users visit the course each day.
- Quiz submission statistics: This section tracks how many quiz attempts have been submitted each day.
- Brightspace Insights reports: Additional information about each report can be found below.
Class Engagement
This is a course-specific Brightspace Insights report that tracks how many learners have accessed the course within the last seven days.
- Student Engagement Statistics: This section shows how many students have not visited the course within the last week.
- Grade Distribution Graph: This chart shows the overall distribution of grades for the course.
- Email Class: Use this button to send an email to students.
- Student Overview Table: This table lists each student and provides some high-level information such as their overall grade and their last visit date.
Course Engagement
This is a course-specific Brightspace Insights report that tracks how often learners are accessing a course. This report can be exported for further analysis in third-party tools.
- Student Access Graph – Week: This graph shows how many students have accessed the course each day over a seven-day period.
- Student Access Graph – Semester: This graph shows how many students have accessed the course each day over the semester.
- Student Access High Level: This section provides a quick look at how many times the course has been accessed over the last week.
- Export options: Instructors can export the report as either an XLSX or CSV file.
Tool Access
This is a course-specific Brightspace Insights report that tracks learner engagement with course tools. This report can be exported for further analysis in third-party tools.
- Tool Access Pie Chart: This chart shows how much time, as a percentage, students are spending on each tool.
- Tool Access Table: This table shows the data and colors used to construct the pie chart.
- Export options: Instructors can export the report as either an XLSX or CSV file.
